Mid-South Golf Series Junior Tour is open to all Boys and Girls 5-19 years of age, as of July 30 of the current year, who are not currently attending college full-time. Players who have graduated from high school may continue to play on the Mid-South tour until they attend college full-time, or turn 20 years old before July 30th (whichever comes first). We are open to all junior golfers throughout the United States.
For the College Series, players can be up to 24 years old as of July 30 of the current year. Current high school junors and seniors can also play in this division, if desired.
Mid-South Golf Series Membership is essential for any junior golfer to participate in Mid-South tournaments. Memberships are available for only $49 (good for an individual OR all juniors in the same household).
The Family Memberships are a true family membership. Although each tour player must become a member and fill out a membership profile on BlueGolf (our third-party member & event partner) and pay the $49 membership fee - we will REFUND back all but one family player membership when those players from the same household enters and plays in their very first tournament of the current season.
We're glad you want to play in our golf series! Simply click on the SCHEDULE tab, located at the top of any page.
You'll see the available tournaments to enter on our tour page via the BlueGolf website. Click on the NAME of the specific event you want to participate in (or the "Info" link), and you're on your way.
*Special note: You WILL need to set up a brand new account on BlueGolf to sign up for Mid-South events, even if you already have an account with another junior golf tour on their site. Best way to do that is to go to their site and act like you've never been on it before (sign out of any other BlueGolf account you may have open!), then click on the event name first, then follow the prompts. Eventually it will ask you to sign-in or to open an account, and choose to open a new account.
Mid-South Golf Series has THREE simple requirements in its Pace Of Play Policy and is expected of all players 10 & over in all events:
[1] The first player to putt out must immediately head to the next tee box and prepare to hit their ball (also the 2nd player in a foursome grouping)
[2] The first player to arrive at the next tee, should be the first player to hit, the second player to arrive should be the second player to hit, and so on until all players have teed off.
[3] Once at least 2 players have arrived at the tee from your group, the first player that arrived has 30 seconds to hit their tee shot, as long as the fairway (or green on a par 3) is clear and it does not create a distracting or dangerous situation for players in range.
NOTE: Waiting for your complete group to leave the green, or waiting for your group on the next tee is NOT ready golf, and slows down the pace of play.
ALSO: A player arriving at the tee box should prepare for their shot immediately, and record scores after they have hit their shot.
[1] A group will be deemed "out of position" if they have a par 3 open or 2/3 of the next hole open in front of them after completing a hole.
[2] Any player or group that does not play Ready Golf (as explained above) when their group is "out of position" will be given a verbal warning by a tour staff person (up to 2 warnings can be given).
[3] Any player that does not play Ready Golf after being warned, or their group is warned, will be given a 1 stroke penalty.
[4] Ready Golf penalties can be rescinded at the end of the round in certain cases:
[a] if your group enters the scoring area 15 minutes or less after the group in front of you and/or ...
[b] if the player's efforts are sufficient to waive the penalty as determined by tour staff.
Caddies ARE allowed in all Mid-South Golf Series tournaments for all divisions of play, EXCEPT in PHENOM SERIES events for the 14-19 division for both Boys and Girls.
For 14-19 age divisions of the Phenom Series, parents/friends CAN still chat with players between holes, but cannot "coach" or "instruct" players in any manner. (The TSSAA rule regarding distance from parents/players is NOT in effect.)
Non-players cannot "slow down" tour players from keeping pace in any way. Interaction and encouragement is ENCOURAGED, but not to the detriment of keeping pace or interferring with any player's normal play or process during their round.
Caddies must adhere to all USGA rules and regulations and CANNOT openly coach (example: show them how to hit the ball a certain way during tournament play) their player in any manner. This rule is not enforced with the youngest divisions (9U or younger) of the Mid-South tour. Please see USGA rule 10.2b for the specific rule that we enforce for players and their caddies in the older divisions.
The Kids Series division players (9U and 12U) must have a caddie that is knowledgeable of the game, as to not delay or inhibit a player's round or other players in the same group. Older players (15U & 14-19) are encouraged to have a caddie, but participants can opt to have a caddie, or not (their choice).
Mid-South offers 3 different registration timelines during the calendar year. The EARLIER you register for each event, the more money you save. The three sign-up time periods are:
PRE-SEASON - Special pricing is offered ONLY for the first 14 days after registration opens. Each part of our season below opens up at a different time during the calendar year. This is done primarily to help families to not have to pay for entry fees all at the same time at the beginning of the year.
Pe-season registration begins, all at 5pm CT:
> SPRING SEASON: 1st Friday of January
> SUMMER SEASON: 2nd Friday of March
> FALL SEASON: 2nd Weds of May
EARLY-BIRD - Good from the end of the Pre-Season period through 14 days prior to the first day of the tournament.
STANDARD - Good from 13 days out of the event up until 5 days prior to the start of the tournament, ending at 5pm CT.
No other registrations are normally accepted after the Standard deadline, including the day of the event on-site. Please note - an event can be CLOSED to registrations, if the maximum amount of available entries have been claimed by other individuals.
Tee times will be posted online and emailed to the email address we have on file for each player 4 DAYS PRIOR to the first day of the tournament (usually around lunchtime).
Due to time or administration restraints, at times tee-time groupings may remain the same on the 2nd day of an event - or can be changed due to changes in the field makeup or course requests.
If you desire to do so, you may place your name on the waiting list for a specific tournament when a event field is FULL.
Waiting lists, and those chosen to play if another player drops out of an event, is purely on a first-come, first-served basis based on WHEN you placed your name on the list.
Players on the wait list are NOT charged on their preferred payment option for entry fees until *after* they have been accepted into an event. Players are notified of making a specific event field only after payment has been processed by BlueGolf.
All players & parents (of 12 & under players especially) must have an active email address in order to receive important information throughout the season.
If you do not have an email address, please offer an email for your parent or guardian. You and your parent(s) need to be able to receive specific information tied to the events you sign up for.
We also strongly suggest that parents sign up for our email list so they too will receive all updates on upcoming events, tee times, ranking information, and other intel that Mid-South Golf Series will send out periodically. You can do that on any page of the Mid-South website. Our desire is to keep communication open with all of our players and their parents.
The Mid-South Golf Series (MSGS) code of conduct is set forth to ensure an enjoyable event for everyone participating in our events. All Mid-South Golf Series competitors are expected to adhere to all regulations set forth here.
GOLF ATTIRE
All MSGS participants are required to wear proper golf attire at each host course. Blue jeans, cut offs, t-shirts, and open-toe footwear or sandals are not permitted. All shirts must be "golf shirts" that are either collared or high-neck shirts with no collar (unless a host course has a strict collar-shirt only policy). Shorts, skorts, skirts, and pants are all allowed. If a player shows up to an event without proper attire you will be asked to change the item that is not appropriate. If you wear a hat or visor, it must be worn in a proper manner.
PLAYER & CADDIE BEHAVIOR
MSGS will not tolerate poor behavior before, during, or after any event. All participants and their caddies are expected to carry themselves as courteous ladies and gentlemen at all times. The following actions constitutes a violation:
*Not adhering to the dress code at the host facility
*Use or association with any drugs, alcohol, or tobacco products
*Unsportsmanlike conduct including but no limited to: club or ball throwing, cheating, abusive language, disrespect to volunteers, spectators, players, caddies, course staff or MSGS staff
*Failure to treat the host course with respect by not replacing ball marks, filling divots when appropriate, not picking up trash, raking bunkers, and caring for the course
CODE OF CONDUCT PENALTIES
Mid-South may assess any or all of the following penalties based on the severity of the violation(s) listed above:
*Issue a one stroke penalty for Code of Conduct breach, if by a player or their caddie
*Disqualify the player from the event at which the violation occurs, or depending on the severity of the violation, a tournament disqualification may also result in disqualification from the next tournament for which a player has entered or qualified for
*A serious breach of conduct or apparent disregard for another player, caddie, volunteers, rules officials, or staff members could result in a player or caddie being suspended for an extended amount of time (6 or 12 months) or even permanent expulsion
USGA rules will govern all event play. If you are not familiar with USGA rules, please do so prior to entering a Mid-South tournament. We also recommend downloading the USGA Rules app onto your phone for easy access.
Know that Mid-South has 'normal' local rules for all tournaments. Those can be found on the BlueGolf app under "local rules" or "important event information."
If within the players of your group a ruling cannot be established - and there are no rules officials in your area of the course (and cannot be available to make a ruling within 3-5 minutes) - we ask you to play two balls on that hole and a ruling will be determined at a later time when an official is available, or in the scoring area after your round is complete.
Players must announce to all of the other competitors in your group that you intend to play two balls and which ball you wish to count if the ruling permits. Please do not finalize scoring on a hole with a possible rules infraction until a ruling has been made by a Mid-South Golf Series official.
Mid-South Golf Series events will be played as long as the golf course is open for “Safe Play,” as determined by course management. We believe it is important that players have an opportunity for tournament play under all types of weather and course conditions.
Events are NOT cancelled because the weather is too cold, too hot, too windy, raining, or other weather occurrences – unless the golf course has been officially closed (temporarily or for the day). Events are also not cancelled or postponed due to difficult course conditions (unless the course is closed due to extreme conditions or damage). However, the tour will not play a tournament round if the high temperature for that day is not expected to reach 40 degrees. In the case of dangerous thunderstorm type weather, a siren or horn will go off (when available) along with text notifications being sent out. You are to mark your ball and seek shelter immediately at that time.
Players with health concerns that could be made difficult due to excessively hot or cold temperatures should NOT play or enter into an event that could make their condition worse. If a player & family enter a tournament and participate in that event, knowing full well the weather and/or temperature forecast is "excessive," you are entering and playing "at your own risk" and the tour will not be held responsible for that decison. Normal withdraw fees will take place that are stated elsewhere in Mid-South's "FAQ & Policies" information.
Mid-South Golf will make every effort to play each event to its conclusion. Play will continue in wet and/or hot/cold weather unless lightning or threatening weather is in the area. If an event is shortened due to heavy rain or dangerous conditions, there will be NO REFUNDS or credits issued.
CANCELLED ROUNDS
In the event a specific round is cancelled or delayed due to inclement weather, Mid-South Golf Series will make every effort to finalize the event score for that particular day. 9-hole increments will be used for shortened rounds. Each division's players must finish through at least the same 9-holes on the course for those scores to be posted for that day's event or round. If that does not take place, no scores will be posted for any players. No credits or refunds will be issued for events shortened due to weather or other events that are out of the control of the golf course or the Mid-South tour.
REFUNDS OR TRANFERS FOR 1-DAY PLAYERS
If the weather doesn’t cooperate and golf isn’t playable at all on the day of play, the event would be moved to the NEXT DAY if part of a 2-day event. If you are a 1-day player and the event is officially moved to the next day due to unplayable conditions on the original day, and you can’t make it on the make-up day, you would have to notify the Mid-South Golf Series office by 5pm CT the evening of the original date to inform us of your intentions.
You would have the option to either:
[A] Receiving a 1-DAY ACE EVENT REFUND (less a $10 processing fee for 18-hole players, and $5 fee for 9-hole players), -OR-
[B] TRANSFER your entry to a specific future 1-day tournament during the same calendar season (with a transfer fee) within 3 business days (no exceptions on timeline, please). If we do not hear from you, an entry fee 'credit' is issued and you can use that credit anytime during the remaining season (by end of October). The credit is good for the entry you paid, minus any fees.
REFUNDS OR TRANFERS FOR 2-DAY PLAYERS
If the weather doesn’t cooperate and golf isn’t playable on either day of an event, the tournament would be canceled and an appropriate refund will be issued to each player (see below).
When a 2-Day tournament is shortened to a 1-Day (when at least 9-holes are completed by all players on the course) a partial refund will be issued.
If 1-day of a 2-day event is canceled due to weather-related issues, but the tournament is deemed "complete" by Mid-South Golf Series, the following would take place:
All players would receive a partial REFUND (less a $15 processing fee for 36-hole players, and $8 for 18-hole players) and other related "hard costs" associated with an event no matter the length (awards, paid staffing, printing, course contractual fees, etc.). The specific amount would be determined by the tour after receiving notice from the course what the costs involved in hosting the tournament that day are to the venue.
If an entire 2-day event is completely canceled due to weather-related issues, one of the following would come into play (your choice):
[A] Receiving a REFUND (less a $15 processing fee for 36-hole players, and $8 for 18-hole players)
-OR-
[B] A TRANSFER of your entry to a specific future 2-day tournament (with a $8 transfer fee) within 3 business days (no exceptions on timeline, please). IF WE DO NOT HEAR BACK FROM YOU WITHIN THE 3-DAY PERIOD AFTER A TOURNAMENT HAS BEEN CANCELED, YOUR ENTRY FEE WILL BE PLACED ON CREDIT. That means you can use your entry fee (MINUS THE PROCESSING FEE) towards a future event during the same season. It is your responsibility to keep track of any credit. The tour will not remind you of it beyond your first notification. If you do not use it by the final Open series event of the current season, your fee is then non-transferable and non-refundable.
If for any reason you are unable to appear or play in an event you are registered to participate in, please do the following:
[1] If 6 OR MORE DAYS OUT of your scheduled event, email our office at info@MidSouthGolfSeries.com and provide the reason(s) for you not being able to appear.
[2] If within 3-5 DAYS prior to a tournament at 5pm CT, you may withdraw from an event or waiting list by calling our office or emailing us at info@midsouthgolfseries.com. We will confirm your withdraw with an email confirmation.
[3] If it is within 1-2 DAYS of the event, please email us with the reason for your withdraw.
[4] If it is the SAME DAY OF THE EVENT, please call the office number, which will be forwarded to one of our staff on-site. Leaving an email will not be an effective way of communication the day of a tournament, and would result in a probable delay of your scheduled group teeing off, which in turn delays all other groups behind you on the tee sheet. Please DO NOT call the golf course directly. All communication must be made through the Mid-South Golf Series business line. Any messages left at a specific pro shop will not be seen or heard, and will not be accepted by Mid-South staff.
NOTE: Plesse know that cancelling for weather forecast related reasons is not a good reason to withdraw from an event. All junior tours have the same or very similar policy when it comes to weather.
Players who withdraw from an event more than 4 DAYS (prior to tee sheet information being emailed to participants - 96 or more hours prior to the event starting) to the event beginning will be refunded their entire entry fee, minus a $15 processing fee. (You can also transfer your entire fee to another event if you desire to do so, with an $8 transfer fee.)
Players who withdraw between 48-96 hours of an event's first scheduled start time) are only eligible for a 50% refund, and NO TRANSFER - no exceptions.
Players who withdraw within 48 hours of an event's first scheduled start time are NOT ELIGIBLE FOR ANY REFUND OR TRANSFER - no exceptions.
Players who withdraw or cancel TWO OR MORE TIMES in a calendar year may not be eligible to play in future events. Please be careful in your scheduling process and be considerate to other players and tour staff by only entering events you truly desire to play in.
You can direct any questions, comments or feedback to info@MidSouthGolfSeries.com. You may also call our business line at (931) 269-9655 during normal business hours.
You will receive an email notification that it went through via BlueGolf. If you do not receive that, check your spam folder. If it's not there, wait up to 2 hours to see if it arrives. If none of that happens, please email us.
Our primary desire is to provide a quality event at an affordable price for you to gain experience in. Mid-South Golf Series now offers FAMILY MEMBERSHIPS that save every family with 2 or more junior players a super discount to play on our tour.
ALL juniors from 5-19 years old have the opportunity to play in our events. Finances should not be the biggest hurdle to a student playing competitive golf, so we offer 2-day 36-hole tournaments as low as $84 per event (pre-season price), and 1-day 18-hole events as low as $45. Kids Series 9-hole events are even lower.
YES, they do! All of our 2-day events are reported to JGS for national ranking purposes.
Special Note: All ranking points with all junior tours are based on a minimum of 5 players playing from the same distance.
Caddies cannot get involved in any official rulings, transport players when not authorized, or use personal cell phones during the round (unless serving a an official group scorekeeper). Caddies cannot instruct other players or caddies in any manner. The PLAYER in all 12+ age divisions should speak to other players on their own about questions, comments, or rules issues they witness.
Caddies are also not allowed to: smoke, drink any type of alcoholic beverage, nor be on any drug before, during, or after a Mid-South event.
Caddies cannot be changed during a round for any reason, without prior and proper notice from the on-site Mid-South tournament director.
Since all of our events count toward national rankings, the answer is YES.
College coaches are encouraged to watch our events - and often do - and to find out what great young golf talent there is in the Tennessee and surrounding states region. We do have area college coaches visit our tournaments often!
We're glad you asked! Junior golf is important to the future of the game of golf. Volunteers and paid interns are vital to our events happening and being well staffed.
Simply write us at info@MidSouthGolfSeries.com to get your potential involvement rolling. Please know that background checks will be performed on those who desire to serve on Mid-South's tour.
To improve "Pace of Play" we have instituted a Local Rule in all events that states a stroke limit of DOUBLE PAR (including any "whiffs") will be established for Mid-South events for any 9-hole per day tournament. Once a player reaches the maximum allowable strokes on a specific hole, the player must pick up their ball and move to the next hole after other players in their group complete the current hole, without any penalty or disqualification.
All 18-hole per day participants will need to "play their ball out" on every hole until holed.
Tie-breakers for first place in a division will be decided by a one-hole playoff. The playoff would be on Hole #1 or #10 based on closeness to the clubhouse, and what other activity might be happening on the course at the time the playoff begins. The Director's decision on what hole this playoff takes place on is final.
If darkness is an issue preventing an actual on-course 1-hole playoff to occur, a short putting contest of 2 holes would take its place if there is enough light around the putting green at that time to determine a winner. Total distance away from the hole determines the winner.
If the players involved in the playoff - or the putt-off - are still in a "tie" after that scenario is complete, then it will be decided on a scorecard playoff, in this sequence:
[1] Whomever had the best score on the final 9-holes completed, then if still tied,
[2] Whomever had the best score on the final 6-holes completed, then if still tied,
[3] Whomever had the best score on the final 3-holes completed.
If there is still a tie after all of these tie-breakers are exhausted, then a co-Champion will be declared. One player will be awarded the Champion trophy, and the other will be offered a Champion trophy at a later date, or mailed to them if they are unable to attend a future Mid-South event
Tie-breakers for any other place (beyond first-place) will result in a scorecard playoff as described above.
If a player must leave a tournament due to illness or injury, a Mid-South Golf Series staff person must be notified immediately. Players who simply "quit" because of poor play will be given a warning the first time this occurs. If sickness is the reason for the withdrawal, a warning will not be given.
Once a player tees off on the first hole of an event, no refund or transfer will be given under any circumstances because of a wtihdraw, including sickness or injury. No SeeMore Cup 'Player of the Year' or Special Event points are awarded to any player who withdraws prior to officially completing a tournament. No exceptions, please.
Injuries during golf events are rare, but Mid-South Golf Series encourages all participants to have medical information available on the course in case of any emergency. You are encouraged to carry emergency contact information (even if your parents/guardians are on course spectating) and a medical insurance card in their golf bags during all events.
Pull-carts ARE allowed in all Mid-South events, unless the host course has a policy against them (very rare cases). In the case that pull-carts are not allowed on a specific course, we will make every effort to provide shuttle service on extremely difficult-to-walk areas between holes. When a pull-cart is not allowed, the caddie or the player would need to carry their own golf bag throughout the event. This usually only happens at private golf venues.
Motorized carts are prohibited during official tournament play.
Mid-South Golf Series allows any distance device that measures shot distances only. Devices or apps that measure weather-related information, wind, or slope specific intel are not permitted, or those functions must be turned off during play.
Yes. Mid-South Golf Series allows yardage books during official tournament play.
